Welcome to the board.

1. Rent gear near your house. Check it out and make sure that it good-to-go before leaving for Catalina. There is some gear available over there, but you have a lot more options on the mainland.

2. There's a guy there with a little truck that will haul your gear over for a small fee. It's something like $5-10 each. I've used him several times but I'm not sure if you need to arrange it or just look for him when you get there.

3. There are lockers over there that can be used for over night storage. It's a bit of gamble because sometimes they're all in use.

Is camping near Avalon permitted? I'm only familiar with the camp ground near Two Harbors.
