Currents not an issue in Fiji |

There are some, but the boat will follow your bubbles and pick you up at the end of the dive. The diving is better there than in Australia, although Fiji really has no nightlife to speak of. The flight to Fiji is long, but it's a red-eye. You'll leave here around 11pm and arrive in Fiji the next morning. You'll cross the international date line, but the actual time difference, if memory serves, is only two or three hours from PST. If you're looking for an interesting cultural experience, great diving, and a more relaxed vacation, I would recommend Fiji.
