Not as cheap as some other hotels but the Coast Long Beach Hotel is an excellent place to stay. Some of the rooms face the water and the Queen Mary. Very relaxing hotel with a great restaurant. It's accross the water from the Aquarium but only takes a minute to get to the Convention Center from there.
