New mask straps are PITA

I lost my old mask & snorkel, so I had to replace them. I ended up getting a Mares Vision X mask. Either I don't have the straps setup right, or they are poorly designed. They don't hold the mask on my had very well at all--they tend to get loose and then the mask leaks. Should I replace the straps, or is there some way I can figure out how to set them up properly? Any help?
