We dove with a guy in the Bahamas who dove with his tank cradled in his arms...talk about minimalism (he had his gear stolen before leaving port, so this was partly from necessity I presume).

My plastic pack was a gift from a friend who had it many years - its still in great shape. I'd guess its going on 30 years (maybe more). All I've done is to reweb it, put on a new tank cam, and replace the well-worn horse collar with an 18 # Oxycheq wing (Chris G's recommendation). Yes, it may outlast me.

I DO like your plate design and you picked an excellent wing to go with it. Your plate is SO streamlined - its all you need for typical rec diving. How would the 1/4 aluminum compare to the SS for being warp resistant? Keep us posted on your carbon fiber plans...sounds interesting.
