I don't know yet how warp resistant it will be. I'm assuming you mean warping when the cam bands are torqued down. 1/4 inch aluminum is pretty tough and should be fine.
The only way to get more minimalist than what we're doing is to just use a set of bands around the tank that the webbing could go to and strap the bare tank straight to our back with no bc.
