Posted by Reef Check Foundation on June 22, 2006 at 12:10:42: Join Reef Check at Scuba Show 2006 booth 636 this weekend Looking to get more out of diving and give back to the ocean environment we all enjoy? Then join Reef Check this weekend at the Long Beach Scuba Show at booth 636 to find out how you can make a difference. Staff and volunteer scientific divers will be there to talk with you about the need to create a statewide network of trained recreational divers to monitor what’s happening on our nearshore reefs and how you can get involved. California’s reefs look a lot different today than they did 30 years ago. Abalone are almost gone and big fish have become scarce. Our kelp forests are lightly inhabited shells of their former selves. Working together, divers can unite and protect this valuable resource. Get involved this weekend and join a Reef Check team to become a member of a group of individuals committed to making a difference. By joining Reef Check, either as a volunteer diver, “1000 Diver” or a general member, you’ll contribute to the conservation and informed management of one of California’s most precious resources. Divers are already being trained but we still need you help. For more information, go to http://www.reefcheck.org/california/index.asp or visit us this weekend at booth 636. Together we can make a difference. |
