"Even if a dive is performed at "recreational limits" can it actually be "technical dive" instead?"

Labels are for the simple-minded. What does it matter if it's called rec, advanced, tech, laid-back, freaking insane, etc. Each person should do a personal evaluation of the dive and decide for themselves if it's right for them. Alternately, if you're not sure then go take a look and if it's scary, abort before you get a big deco obligation or otherwise get in trouble.

"What are the risk/benefits of mixed gas vs. diving deep on air?"

There are tons of books on this by respected authors. This info is not hidden. A bbs is probably the WORST place to learn about this info.

"In reporting on advanced - albeit recreational - dives, what responsibility (if any) does the poster have to communicate the risks of such diving?"

Are you kidding me? Zero! We're not writing instructional guides, we're just reporting what we did and what we discovered. Are you asking for every post to have a big ass legal disclaimer at the bottom that the user has to click on before seeing the post???

NOW HEAR THIS...
There are no diving police. You can dive solo, naked, and on a single tank backpack rig to 200ft and there isn't a damn thing that anyone can do about it. Alternately, you can buy incredible gear these days and get world-class instruction so that you can safely dive deeper than 300ft. The beautiful thing is that the system is PERFECT.
