You wouldn't have to hack Mike's computer to get either the IP address
or the browser signature.

The IP address is in his e-mails in the headers.

The browser signature is accesable to anyone who runs a website
that Mike looks at. If you know his IP address, the webmaster can
figure out from the logs what his browser sig is.

Both are accessible to anyone running a BBS he posts on.

This isn't much more difficult than putting a fake return address
on an envelope.
