Thanks for the post, Kendall. Two follow-up questions:

1) Are some divers less susceptible to nitrogen narcosis than other divers, or do they just think they are? (In other words, are there individuals whose reaction time degrades significantly less with exposure to nitrogen narcosis than is true for the average person?)

2) From the references to nitrous oxide chemistry, am I interpreting it correctly that being narc'd on a dive is essentially the same as being on a low dose of nitrous oxide gas in the dentist's chair?
