Sat 7/1, hawthorne reef & palawan |
Posted by Roger on July 01, 2006 at 18:22:38: Dove today with Jim and the Webbs. Got in at Hawthone Reef near Pt Vicente at arouund 8 or 8:30, tide was slack low. Vis was great on top, but only decent (~30 foot) on the bottom. Water was 552 and current was picking up and vis was dropping toward the end of the dive as the tide started to move. 2nd dive was on the Palawan at around 10. Vis was again great on the top, then there was a really bad layer, and below that, vis was about normal for the Palawan, I could barely see across it. Lots of squid eggs out in the sand around it, too, that was cool. Temp was 52. Pictures later today if I get my act together...
