I have found a 6' hose convenient to use without a cannister light as it routes without the need for tucking anywhere and stays put. Tried a 5' hose and it was too short for me. I own a 7' hose and will switch over to that now that I am diving with a light every dive. So...the system is adaptable, and all three hose lengths are available (eg 5thdx in Berkeley).
