Nice to finally meet you and Merry! And equally nice to see Jeff, though we did miss seeing Sue (but believe she was around..?).

WOW! The 3-R's had 39 students today! This is the largest group we've ever seen at this fantastic introduction to surf entry and exit skills at LA's beaches. We hope the turnout grows - the more the merrier! The class actually filled up the cobble cove at Old Marineland - what a sight!

What made it really special was the large group of (very well mannered) local teenagers who were getting their first experience of swimming / diving in the ocean. We had one young lady who was surprised that the water tasted salty! To be able to share in her discovery of this just knocked our fins off!

Many of these young people who live in LA have never been in the ocean - think of it; how many other young people have not been able to experience what we take for granted - just that the water was salty! Not to mention their excitement when we did some freedives to bring up urchins and starfish for them to see first hand. Many thanks to thier instructors who allowed us to share this day with them. They were the nicest group of young men and women one would ever want to meet!

What a great day to play in the ocean!
