The LA County Advanced Diver Program started yesterday and there are 22 students, registered and paid in full. Yesterday was registration, intros, and History of Diving with Nick Icorn. Sunday's session was first pool and SAC/DAC lecture. ADP then went to the Fish ID lecture at SEALab in Hermosa after. Kevin Liu is this year's ADP Course Director with Brett Morales and Doug Mechaber as team Dive masters. ADP is off to a great start!

GLACD/UIA 3R's program had 39 students show up on Saturday for their session at Old Marineland. Once Brad Johnson got over the initial shock of the full group, he was loving it. He had them singing "this is our ocean" in typical Brad style. They were so loud that the Baywatch boat came by. We had reports that the cobblestone beach was completely lined with students.

There was also two water festivals on Saturday that UIA members covered. Rick Tang handled the World of Water festival with his newest L.A. Co. Instructor Trevor Zemp, UICC 53, and some well trained guards. We don't have a full report yet, but they were conducting SAS for all in attendance.

County Instructors also covered the Splash festival at Atlantic Park Pool for Gary Liebsack with County Supervisor Gloria Molina in attendance. We conducted both SAS and Discover Scuba. We left Atlantic Park with a lot of happy kids.

It was a very busy weekend for all of us and a very rewarding one. On behalf of the UIA, I would like to thank all the L.A. Co. Instructors and ADP alumni for staffing these events and supporting L.A. Co. U/W Programs!
