amed is more of an area than a town, its quite spread out, with many nice resorts.

tulamben is a specific town in a small area.

both areas have great dive sites. the japanese fish wreck in amed is awesome.

I stayed at pondok vienna in amed, you can dive right from the hotel.

I stayed at puri mada in tulamben, right in front of the liberty wreck. the dive shop was awesome, excellent service, best prices.

I recommend a few days in both places. there are more dive sites in tulamben though
