First Annual "Paul Meister White Point Memorial Clean-up" Sept 23 8 AM |
Posted by Walt on August 07, 2006 at 22:38:15: This is one week after the Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day promoted by the California Coastal Commission (good news is that you can dive another site September 16!) We have asked that they publicize the White's Point clean-up as a tribute to Paul and we will move it to coincide with the clean-up weekend next year. We have asked for free parking and a divers parking area near Issei cove that day. As of now, no guarantees, so you may need to shell out $7 for parking. We hope to have good news in the next few weeks. A pot luck BBQ is planned afterward at Royal Palms State Park picnic area (at Whites Point for those who have never been there). This is a day of a little work to clean-up the point and also to have FUN! Freedivers are welcome to join in as this is a shallow cove. Bring your own mesh bags for the clean-up and floats if you have them. For now, just reserve the date and think of a food item you'd like to bring to share! We'll have complete details just after Labor Day! Also, for those unfamiliar with the type of entry at White's Point, there is a GLACD / LA County UIA 3-R's (Rocks, Rips, Teefs) course there September 9! More info: http://www.lascuba.com/3rs.html |
