The date of the official California Coastal Clean-up is September 16, one week before the "First Annual "Paul Meister White Point Memorial Clean-up" which will be Sept 23, 2006 starting at at 8 AM.

To be honest, we chose the Sept 23 date before we knew about the Sept 16 event... we were posting about possible dates and the 23 happened to be a good one, especially with the cancellation of the chocolate lobster dive this year. Plus some of us were already committed for the 16th. Maybe it was Paul guiding us over cyber space as not having it on the same date sort of makes it even more special.

We may schedule the Second Annual "Paul Meister White Point Memorial Clean-up" on the same date of the Coastal Clean-up in 2007. Then again, we may not.

I like to think of this as a "Happening" (in today's terms a sort of diver "flash mob", but longer and with purpose or porpoise in our case).
