I tested one on every dive for a year. I still use a compass but use the tracker to keep me from overshooting the boat on the return. Once or twice lobster feaver has taken hold of me and I took a chance and followed the scout right back to the boat. I would never depend on it working 100% of the time or depend on replacing common sence with this tool. I replaced the transmitter with the sport, like a lot of people I dive with did. It is most important to pull up the transmiter between dives as they do hot hold up well when the boat moves and they get tangled with the props on the boat!!!
