I shoot with a camera that's about two pounds negative, and I
carry it on a neck strap, so it's got lots of leverage to tip
me. And I use a backplate so the center of weighting is a bit
higher than with a traditional BC.

I dive a drysuit, and no ankle weights. They just aren't
necessary, and being in good trim keeps your fins off the bottom
so you aren't making self-induced backscatter.

Adm. Linda used to think the ankle weights were necessary, then
they got misplaced and she's never gotten new ones. Give it a try.
You might be pleasently surprised.
