First Annual "Paul Meister White Point Clean-up" Saturday, September 23, 2006 - 8am Divers are invited to attend the first annual "Paul Meister White Point Memorial Clean-up" on Saturday September 23, 2006. This is an informal, non-sponsored event honoring the memory of Paul Meister and cleaning the underwater cove he monitored the health of for over 40 years. We’ll gather at 8 AM at the parking area closest to Issei cove. Unfortunately, due to some bureaucratic red tape, we will need to pay the $7 parking fee (its per car – so carpool!) Also, we won’t have any Dive Masters, so all diving is at your own risk (but there will also be no waivers to sign!) Bring an easy pot luck item and some beverages and gather at Royal Palms State Beach afterward (its the picnic area to the west of Issei Cove - your parking fee for the day covers it). Also, plan to have some fun and meet some new friends! That’s what Paul was all about. If you’d like to get some practice and experience entering and exiting this site, there is a Los Angeles County / GLACD 3-R’s that will be held at White’s Point on Saturday September 9 (8 AM). On the day of the clean up, it is suggested to bring a mesh bag to gather trash underwater. A float with diver down flag is also recommended to mark your buddy team’s location.
