To make them unneeded, move the weight to your belt and take them
off. Go diving. Reduce weight until the drysuit shrinkwraps
you. Now the ankle weights are gone and you are more level in
the water and swimming is easier.

If your natural attitude isn't level, move weight up on your
body until it is.
