LeeAnne, please excuse the sillinous. It seems charactersitic of various tech diver groups. We have never figured out how to get rid of them, though as you say, they are a true plague to civil people on this BBS and others. It seems to be an unfortunate result of the internet.
I'll tell you what we have told so many other people that have felt the same way as you. Ignore them. Do not make their problems your problems. Instead, look at the site for the camaraderie of the sport divers. If you do, you will be able to read great reports and see the beautiful photography they offer for the civil people to enjoy. You can learn a lot about dive opportunities and diving here as well.
I must apologise for the people that seem perpetually cranky, but try as we have, we have never been able to do anything to help their outlook.
I have one rule of diving that I promote...
