On Friday and Saturday September 8-9, 2006 the Sea Divers went to San Miguel Island aboard the Peace.
The ride from Ventura was exceptionally smooth. On day one (Friday) we spent the entire day and San Miguel. We made the following dives:
1) Boomerang (offshore pinnacle) with a ripping current
2) The slope (offshore pinnacle) (a new pinnacle near Wilson Rock) with a somewhat lessened current
3) The Canyons another ripping current
4) Point Bennett (aka Shark Park) with a somewhat lessened current
5) Castle Rock - calm
6) Cuyler Harbor - calm
7) Cuyler Harbor night dive - calm On day 2 we made the following dives:
1) Skyscraper (offshore pinnacle) near San Miguel Island - a mild current
2) Egg Rock (offshore pinnacle) in the San Miguel/Santa Rosa Passage - a mild current
3) Two Coves at Santa Cruz Island - calm
4) Scorpion Anchorage at Santa Cruz Island - calm The water was in the low 60s bear the surface and only once registered below 53 °F below 120 feet. The visibility was great (50 feet +) on most dives. The service and food on the Peace was outstanding as usual. It was a great trip with a great group of divers.
