A Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a scuba diver to a hospital Wednesday after the woman surfaced disoriented, authorities said.

The woman, 46, whose name was withheld, surfaced disoriented and semiconscious about 10 a.m. near the commercial dive vessel on which she had gone out about 11 miles offshore, southwest of Ventura, Coast Guard officials said.

"She surfaced in need of immediate medical attention," Coast Guard Lt. P.J. Jacquelin said.

She received first aid from the dive boat's crew and then was lifted onto nearby oil platform Grace, which has a heliport.

The woman was in stable condition when the Coast Guard arrived on shore around 11 a.m., Jacquelin said. Hospital officials later told the Coast Guard she would be OK, he said.
