Hi Guys,

I'm on a work assignment in Hawaii. I was in Kauai on Wed so I took a short break and went free diving out in front of my hotel. I was digging all the hawaiian fish when a huge silver thing appeared from under a ledge. It took a few seconds to register what it was because I would have never expected to run into a HUGE seal in Hawaii - I didn't know there were any out here. It hung out with me for most of the hour long dive.

It turned out to be an endangered Monk seal. There are only 1200-1400 of these critters left on the face of the planet. It was an amazing experience!

I didn't have the camera with me...

I'll be scouting out Maui freediving over the weekend so I'll report back if I have any other crazy sightings. I think I'll go for a giant squid next :-)

Cheers,
Ross-O
