Actually my son and I have made a point of tracking down as many versions of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" that we can find. We bought a DVD copy of the 1916 version (or, you can also rent it on Netflix). Also of note, Disney came out with a collector DVD of their version within the past couple of years that has some interesting extra making-of type material on it.
In addition to a couple of animated versions, we've also seen a couple of not very inspiring TV remakes. For example, there's a 1997 one with Michael Caine as Nemo that's pretty lame (it gins up a rivalry between a young Pierre Arronax and his father).
