We were at La Reina with you guys on Friday and didn’t even know it!!! We were on the Club Cantamar boat “Uno Mas” that day. That school of scad was absolutely amazing. My wife Liz and I slowly inched our way into them, and they ended up whirlpooling around us. Very cool! Currents definitely picked up during our second dive, and one or our group got swept off the pinnacle. The Fun Baja boat grabbed him and brought him back. At Club Cantamar, they have some “missing persons” signs up about the mantas at La Reina. They told us that they haven’t seen mantas there in the last couple of years, and didn’t know why. I hope it’s not diver pressure, or worse yet, harvesting.

Thanks for the pictures (we’ve got a few that are nearly identical) and very thorough report. This was our first trip to La Paz and we’re hooked. We’re talking about a liveaboard next time.
