Hi Adam:
I have dove at Carpinteria state beach may times. The beach is very easy entry from the campground or the public beach. Dive near the tide pools(campground)or the public beach. There is a reef near the public beach, that is fantastic. Vis can be 5 to 15 feet depending on the swell. You have to surface swim a long way to reach any depth. Usually the first 50 feet out, depth is 5 feet. There is alot of small fish, some kelp, small clams, alot of santa barbara crabs. Sandy bottom with alot of sea life.
