when you asked about cancun, did you mean cozumel? cozumel is an island nearby cozumel, its one of the top dive destinations in north america, and it's fairly inexpensive.

cancun is mostly about "spring break" like partying.

cozumel is mostly boat diving, you'll see turtles, spotted-eagle rays, a couple nurse sharks.

bonaire has lots of shore diving, and is popular with photographers.
