We have many very old anchors in the coves up here on the North Coast. They are from around the 1860's to about 1900. They placed several in a line leading into the coves so the sail ships loading logs could sail up to the outer one then pull themselves buoy by buoy into the cove. Some of them are quite large and a part of history.
