The Story of "Split Fin" |

"Split Fin" was the name of a Garibaldi that Paul "adopted" at Whites Point and whose life he followed for years. He has an extensive log journal and "Split Fin" is mentioned many times. While observing "Split Fin" the Garibaldi, Paul noticed things such as his choice of nesting sites. The nests in his early years were small and in out of the way places. He was a very lonely Garibaldi whose nest was rarely chosen by passing females. Paul kept hoping that "Split Fin" would realize the error of his ways and move out of his "starter nest" and build a bigger/better one at a prime location. Eventually, "Split Fin" did move up and he became a very busy fish. "Split Fin" was also badly bitten by something once and Paul kept records of his healing process.
