Ok so the first half will be a bore unless you are a mechanical engineer and even then it may be a snooze. However the presentation could perk up your ears and give you an inkling that there will be more sewage spills in our future.

DATE: Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 6:30-8 pm.
AGENDA: Part of the meeting will be to conduct business ... come in and join the Los Angeles American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Executive Board.
PRESENTATION: “Preserving Our Failing Infrastructure” - also a discussion on the Manhattan Beach spill and mitigation effects, video projection, brochure handout.
SPEAKER: Joe Haworth, Information Officer retired, LA County Sanitation District, also known as the Renowned Professor of the Graduate School of Wastewater and Trash
LOCATION: Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
700 North Alameda Street (next to the Union Station)
Los Angeles, CA
Plenty of free parking is available
Parking directions: Enter the Union Station front parking lot from Alameda street. When inside, turn right and drive around to the back to the MWD garage. Mention ASME to the posted guard so he would let you inside. Then push a speaker button and say ASME to the microphone so the security bar would lift. Park anywhere, as it is "after hours". Take elevator to the lobby and register at the lobby security counter. The meeting is at the Lobby level conference room 101.
