I went ab diving yesterday and the water was calm (6' swell- that's calm up here). The beach I was diving from was more protected so the water was breaking only about at the calves; nothing really. The vis was good, about 30 feet, and it was cool to see the rain hitting the top of the water from below.
It was kind of miserabble trying to change and get dressed in a major squal though.
