I had a similar problem downloading from my Aladin Tech, and eventually figured out that it wasn't the IR dongle or the PC -- it was the IR functionality on the dive computer was busted. Apparently there were a lot of the first group of Aladin Techs produced whose IR port didn't last long. Don't suppose you bought it locally and could try it, say, on a PC at the LDS?
