My two favorites were the guy calling Mayday on 16. When the USCG asked what the nature of his distress was he said he was trying to call his buddy, who named his boat May Day.
A call came in from a boater lost in the fog somewhere in the Santa Monica Bay. Each time the Coasties asked a question they had to wait for a response while he counted the people onboard the 18 foot boat, then asked their names and ages. He said he only had one life jacket and asked if he should put it on the antenna so they could find him. :)
