We were in the Monterey breakwater parking lot on Labor Day. I
leave the radio on while we clean up the boat because occasionally
something interesting happens. A nice little 30-something foot
sportfisher I know starts calling vessel assist from Cypress Pt.
(about 10 miles away). He's out of gas, has the anchor down, so
no great deal, except that:

The owner is a VP of a company that you would recognize.
A coworker of mine often drives the boat for him.
His son is also a coworker.

Anyway, I (and a bunch of others) had to work that night because
facilities had powered down the whole building, and we had about
3000 computers to get back up. I had great fun when my (driver)
coworker walked into the room that knight. Great fun.

BTW, cost the guy $1500 for the tow and $3000 to fill the tanks.
I'll keep my little boat. ;-) And keep the tank filled.

Capt. Phil Sammet: "the gas gauge on a boat tells you how much
gas you MIGHT have."
