In Reply to: Orlanda Florida: Recommend a dive operation for a quick 1 day dive? posted by Michal A on January 15, 2007 at 18:31:54:

We enjoyed our dive on the Speigel Grove - we didn't have much current that day. We want to go back now that its upright. Watch current reports and pick a reputable operator.

The second dive on the Duane was a near disaster due to the boat operator not providing nearly enough surface interval time and lying to us about its depth (its is NOT 60 feet to the sand at the gunwhale - was 106 to the gunwhale itself. At best 60' is the conning tower depth). It also had a 'gale force' current all teh way to the sand that day that he seemed to not brief us on other than say "once you step off, swim like he** to get to the mooring". He was trying to not use the extra fuel to go to our planned and desired shallow spot for the second dive of the day, the Christ of the Abyss. (But we did almost meet Christ in person.) This counts as my only deco dive (19 minutes) even though we slashed our dive time just to get to the next mooring cable.

Bottom-line: We do not recommend 'Divers City' thanks to this experience.
