This is a new type of Internet marketing that amounts to getting a person, usually a group of interns, to comb the net and proselytize the company that they work for.

It is called Online Marketing.

It is not really BAD per se. Especially when there are good intentions. But when it when it winds up looking like contrived hype, there is a recoil effect Expect a flood of this stuff pointing at the MySpace and Stickam crowd.

Example: the two posts prior to mine.

A better method is to be chaste in your approach and methods.

Bad approach...
"Hey Guys, Sally here, I just found out about a really good dive training program called DIW. It stands for Diving In Water and it is really good. Visit HTTP:??...... etc.... Catcha later." Once we find out that Sally works for DIW, we feel conned and the Online Marketer is perceived as a shill.

Advice from Google manual "Be honest and direct with good content..."
They suggest that your web ranking can be best improved by Quality.

Better approach...
Hello divers, I am Mack Blane. I teach a new approach to diving called DIW. It stands for Diving In Water. It stresses........ Etc...
Mack does not come across an deceitful, he certainly has an agenda, but he is honest about it and does not slide down the Respect-O-Meter.
