Of course he went back. To avoid damaging one of these guys is why we never speared one.

That's why all the photos were of the fish immersed in saltwater in an ice chest. As stressful as the capture and trip to the surface was (mea culpa), trigger was kept immersed except for a few brief moments. On his return to the sea he made rapid tracks back down to his reef. No harm, no foul and an interesting story to tell to his neighbors.
