You can find compass oil at any good marine supply house - its refined mineral oil. The tricky part will be to clean it from the hole you're drilling in order to get a good bond on the plastic... try acetone or toluene to remove any oil film. I'd try an epoxy (or better, acrylic) to reseal the housing and overlap it a tad to get a good seal.

AS for a donation - the Zen diver program which works with local youth can always use gear.

Bravo on not throwing these away! Its a small step toward keeping the world green!
