A 40-year-old free diver aboard the research vessel Rapture was taken to Lana'i unconscious Sunday morning (Feb 11, 2007) and later died, according to the Coast Guard.

Crew members aboard the Rapture delivered the diver to shore before a Coast Guard crew could reach the boat.

The Coast Guard was called about 10:30 a.m., but the Rapture's crew had the man on shore before a Coast Guard crew could meet the boat, the Coast Guard said.
