After sleeping until 8:00(I love not being at work)Merry and I drove over to Veteran's Park in Redondo Beach to check out conditions. It looked like the largest surf was about six inches. Jeff and Rayna told us the visibility was 15-20 feet so we left in a hurry to grab our gear. By the time we got back to Vet's the wind had come up and the surf was 2-3 feet. Vis at the squid eggs was less than ten feet but we saw some amazing things today. I spotted Claudette's BB gun stuck in the sand while Merry found a white octopus. No squid were spotted but there are some new egg sheaths mixed in with the enlarged ones. They look ready to pop.
As we headed uphill to escape the hand-numbing chill a flock of cormorants continually buzzed us. They each paused to look at us before floating back to the surface. My computer read 57F but it felt like 37F. Vis was 6-8 feet until we reached five feet where the surge knocked it down to zero.
