The colors and brightness differences are natural.
I do not know the reason that one cup is brighter. On some species in the Caribbean new growth is brighter, but I don't think there is any info Micronesian species.
Almost nothing i these pictures is algae, thus I doubt chlorophyll is involved. Our local kelp has a very weak deep red florescence.
