Four of us heard whale songs, seemingly very close, throughout an hour-long dive last month at Buchanan's Reef off Palos Verdes. But we didn't see anything. Based on sound clips on the web, a couple of the divers thought it sounded like orcas, whereas the other two of us thought it seemed closer to pilot whales or some other species. (Definitely not grays, though.)
