you always hope that when you finally see one while in the water, the vis would be really good that day :))

The shark could see the diver well enough to recognize him as not being a food source. And the diver was careful to posture himself in a way that was not threatening to the shark. He draws his knees up or turns and swims directly toward the shark when it approaches. He was passive at times and assertive at other times. He made himself an object of curiosity rather than a threat...

i have to hand it to the diver, he took full advantage of a rare opportunity and he managed the encounter perfectly~

one hundred and eleven trips to the Island of the Blue Dolphins and i have yet to see one there...
