The problem is with the quantity of cameras and film you were carrying. Please don't blame Mexico for their regulations; the officer was doing his job. It was unfortunate that he referred to your sex rather than using a more ambiguous term such as "solo traveler" but, if it was me, I don't think I would hold it against him.
