The caption is not true. I visited the school after the storm and it still stands, protected because it was on the bluff overlooking the Gulf. Everything to the west of the school was removed by the surge.
To give scale to the picture, I estimate the waves to be between 10 to 20 feet high. The water here is normally about 3 ft deep at mid tide.
