I dived Marineland on Monday and it was c-c-c-old. On Thursday night as I was gearing up for Vet's I noticed my new strobe had flooded. The rusty water coming from the battery campartment was a dead giveaway. I rinsed it with fresh water and used a lot of electrical contact cleaner, managing to get it to work again. The batteries were fried so I bought new rechargeables yesterday and plugged them in. Naturally, I forgot them this morning! I used alkaline batteries instead, which seemed to give one or two flashes before giving me black images. I managed to get a few, but one of these days I'll actually come home with a card full of wonderful pics and have to choose which ones to share.
The water was a brisk 49F at the point and 53F in the shallows, which felt tropical to me. There was very little surf, but the vis was about eight feet at depth with twelve feet in the shallows. Cuthona divae nudis were everywhere.
