We dove a checkout dive to 100 feet to check Otter's newly serviced regulator and I decided to try out a horse collar and hardpack set-up. Regardles of any 'bad' conditions, we were going to try the dive.

What we found were really good conditions - sets were about 7 to 8 seconds, but they did not impact vis deeper than 15 feet - vis ranged from 15 to 20 all from that depth into the canyon. Although the temp recorded 51 F, it seemed like the high 50's, low 60's. Water seemed like it was clearing nicely.

Found the transcect line and followed it to depth, hit 101 and returned to see a cool scartistic fringehead peeking out of a welk shell - lots of turbot fry, but not much else late AM.

If you're thinking about an evening dive - go for it!

PS - the regulator was perfect (thanks as always, West Coast Divers Supply!) and the horse collar was surprisingly easy to adapt to. Old school, baby!
