I have a habit if critterwatching.
Saturday I could not dive so I went to the bluffs to see how the progress of the intrepid Cabrillo Beach divers was going. I noticed a small pod of dolphind circling around about a 3 meter radius. They were spyhopping, basking, and a lot of tail in the air diving. All around a VERY SMALL patch of ocean in the middle of the Cabrillo Bay. I watched for nearly an hour.
I am overly familar with the bottom there, and I know there are a just couple of small rocks, a few crabs and bunch of sand dollars. I really wondered what was going on. Now I wonder if they were focusing on Humbolt Squid carcasses. Or on somthing else that was focusing on them.
This morning (Sunday) There was similar activity off Rossler Point at Malaga cove.
There was also a distant pod that was very playful.

Anyone here care to ponder what was the cause their activity?
